PROFILO PERSONALE

Andrea Granelli, nato nel 1960, dopo la maturità classica, si laurea con lode in informatica e completa gli studi con un diploma post-universitario in psichiatria. Dopo 5 anni presso il Dipartimento di Scienze e Tecnologie Biomediche di Milano, dove si occupa di sviluppo di software di base e scientifico, e una breve parentesi al CESI come responsabile dell'automazione, entra nel gruppo Montedison, prima come responsabile della pianificazione informatica di Iniziativa META e poi come responsabile del sistema informativo per la rete di vendita di Fimedit; diventa inoltre consigliere di AITEC - joint venture fra Montedison e Stone & Webster. Nel 1989 entra in McKinsey & Company e, nel 1993, si trasferisce un anno presso l'ufficio di Lisbona. Nel 1995 entra in Video On Line come "braccio destro" del fondatore Nicola Grauso. A luglio '96 entra in Telecom Italia come direttore marketing e vendite di TIN - il servizio Internet nato dalla fusione fra Telecom On Line e Video On Line. Successivamente diviene responsabile della Direzione Internet di Telecom Italia e AD di tin.it spa. Nell'aprile 2000 diviene responsabile di "Venture capital e innovazione" per il Gruppo e successivamente AD di TILab, l'azienda che gestisce le attività di R&D del Gruppo Telecom, con oltre 1.200 risorse qualificate, coinvolta in tutte le aree strategiche del gruppo, come Internet, telefonia mobile, larga banda e TV interattiva.

L'ultima fase professionale è stata da caratterizzata dallo start-up di molte iniziative: tin.it, TILab, Loquendo (spin-off legato alle tecnologie vocali), un fondo USA di Venture Capital ($280M di committed capital), l'Interaction Design Institute di Ivrea, l'Esposizione permanente di tecnologia presso i chiostri di S.Salvador a Venezia e il laboratorio Multimediale dell'Università La Sapienza di Roma.

Attualmente è presidente e fondatore di Kanso, società di consulenza che si occupa di innovazione.

Fa parte della Fondazione Cotec per la cooperazione tecnologica e del Comitato di Valutazione del CNR. È stato inoltre per molti anni direttore scientifico di Domus Academy - una delle più prestigiose scuole di design.

Ha diverse pubblicazioni nel campo delle tecnologie digitali e dell'innovazione.

PERSONAL PROFILE

Andrea Granelli, born in 1960, followed a course in classical studies and a degree in computer science and completed his education with a post graduate specialization in diagnostic methods in psychiatry. After working for 5 years in the National Research Council’s Department for Biomedical Sciences and Technologies, he joined the Montedison Group. In 1989 he joined McKinsey & Company; in 1995 he joined Video On Line - the first Italian Internet Service Provider - as assistant to the founder - Nicola Grauso. In 1996 he joined Telecom Italia as Sales and Marketing Manager for TIN (Telecom Italia Net), the Internet Service created as a result of the merger between Telecom On Line and Video On Line. Subsequently, he was named director of Internet for the Telecom Italia Group and he then became CEO of tin.it spa. In april 2000 he became responsible for Venture Capital and Innovation for the Group and later CEO of TILab, the R&D company of the Telecom Italia Group, with more than 1.200 highly skilled resources involved in research activities in all areas of future interest for the Group (such as Internet, mobile communications, broadband and interactive television).

His most recent professional experiences have been characterized by the start-up of various initiatives: Tin.it, TILAB, Loquendo (spin-off focused on voice technologies), a U.S.A. Venture Capital fund ($280 millions of committed capital), the Interaction Design Institute in Ivrea, the permanent Exposition of Technology in the cloisters of the San Salvador Center in Venice and the Multimedia Laboratory at the Università degli Studi - La Sapienza in Rome.

He is currently CEO and founder of Kanso, a consulting company specialized in innovation.

He is member of Cotec (Foundation for Technology Cooperation) and of the Evaluation Committee of the National Research Council; he has also been for many years Scientific Director of Domus Academy, one of the most recognized design school

He has published many books on digital technologies and innovation.
